A Summer Wedding at The Squire Tarbox Inn
Madison and Andrew hosted their small and charming August wedding and reception at the historic Squire Tarbox Inn on Westport Island, Maine.

I spent a little time on Westport Island many years ago. An old friend from high school had a modest summer cottage right on the water. The only time I was at the cottage was during the off season, when the water was shut off and the windows were boarded up.I had driven past the historic Squire Tarbox Inn a number of times and thought it would be a nice place to explore sometime. This past August, I finally had my chance.

Madi and Andrew wanted a wedding color palette of coastal colors with aromatic accents. They loved The Squire Tarbox Inn and planned to use the whole property- marrying beneath the mature Willow trees and hosting a dinner reception in the antique barn.

Cocktail hour was managed by Studio Bar and was set up on the lawn under a small tent. Below, a bar arrangement featuring fragrant Mrs. Burns’ Lemon Basil, with Ranunculus and Maine grown ‘Ryecroft Jan’ Dahlias, Cosmos, Didiscus, Ammi ‘Green Mist’, green Hanging Amaranthus and ‘Chateau Blue’ Lisianthus.

The dinner reception was inside the barn and guests were seated at rustic farm tables with mismatched wooden chairs. Dinner was plated and served by Stone Cove Catering.

Colorful bud vases were placed down the line of each table featuring pale blue Delphinium, lavender Didiscus and Lisianthus, Chamomile, Cosmos and golden Ranunculus with bits of green Hanging Amaranthus throughout.

A plated dinner service is always nice treat for guests and allows more room for flowers and candles.

The first expansion (the addition behind the front, main house) came soon after and served as the kitchen until 1956. About 1825, Tarbox built the main building. -Maine Memory Network
